Growing up I can remember going through photo albums and shoe boxes stuffed to the brim of pictures from my childhood, it was one of my favorite things to do. Memories are so much easier to recall when you’re looking at something tangible and I love the feeling old photos brought back. And oh the smell of old photos! I really can’t get enough. So from a young age a love for documenting life through pictures was instilled in me. I have albums and albums of my own starting from the awkwardness that is 8th grade, all the way through high school, and college. Then when Steve and I had Evelyn I realized life through pictures just wasn’t enough, I wanted the stories to go along with them. So I started this blog and I unfortunately have done a pitiful job at keeping it up.
If you follow me over on Instagram or Facebook then you have seen I often post mini-novels in my captions, but possibly surprisingly, I often find those captions don’t allow me enough space to write down everything I want to say about a moment. I want to remember the smells, the sights, the sounds, the tastes, and allllll the feels a picture captures. Basically when I’m old, gray, and demented I want to look back at these pictures and posts and be transported. So ever since Heath was born I’ve made it my goal to perfect my time-management to allow me to balance chasing around two littles and finding the time to do things that are important to me and that I enjoy, like taking pictures and writing and occasionally binge watching a Netflix show. And I think I’m finally getting a hang of it. With that said my goal is to blog once a week. This still seems pitiful, I know, but I’ve got to start somewhere.
So here we are, week one.
As many of you reading probably already know, we welcomed sweet baby Heath to our family in January. We are finally coming out of that newborn haze and are able to function more like normal members of society rather than sleep-deprived zombies. And let me tell you, i t i s g l o r i o u s. Although I don’t think our family is complete just yet, we are loving life as a family of four. Evelyn and Steve are finally falling in love with Heath because he’s no longer just an extra appendage suckerfished to my body, but is a real baby that is doing things like sitting up on his own, giggling, and trying to crawl. So to kick of the relaunch of my blog I figured I’d start with our family photos.
Our incredibly talented wedding photographer, Michelle, was kind enough to come spend an afternoon with us a couple weeks after Heath was born. She stayed around for cookies, dress up, nail painting, chasing the dogs, multiple nursing sessions–she really captured what a day in our life looks like. These are the first family pictures we have of all of us in our first home and they will forever be my favorite. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.
Thanks for stopping by. Until next time.
